Take a step back in time as you explore the first school house in Ness County. Built in 1882, this little limestone school house sits in it's original location in the center of Ness City. A visit to this museum will inspire a love of history in visitors of all ages. Available to the public by appointment only.
Take a glimpse into the past of the people and events that have shaped our community, including scientist George Washington Carver, baseball player Smoky Joe Wood, and former Kansas Governor and US Senator Andrew Schoeppel, plus much more. The Ness County Museum is open Thursday and Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Right next to the School House Museum, sits the Ness County Oil & Ag Museum. This building is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the oil and agricultural industries used by the old settlers of this county and throughout the years. Available to the public by appointment only.

The Ness County Museum is open Thursday & Friday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment.
If you would like to visit our other two museums during your visit, please contact us to set up a time and we will gladly open the museums for a private tour.
